The Amsterdam Historical Museum

The Amsterdam Historical Museum is housed in the former city orphanage of Amsterdam, where the orphans of Amsterdam lived
many, many years ago. The building is now open to everyone, not just orphans.

David and Goliath
Walk through the picturesque gate on Kalverstraat and youll see the David and Goliath restaurant on your immediate right.
This is where the giant Goliath - whos more than five meters tall lives. Some young children may be a little scared of him.
But brave David defeats the giant in a very clever way. Do you know how he does it?

Children's Courtyard
Youll find suits of armor and weapons in the museum that were used a long time ago. The heroic city militia of Amsterdam wore
this outfit in the 16th century. These utensils are shown in display case in the Childrens Courtyard, where, by the way, the
little orphans used to play centuries ago.
