During much of the 17th century Roman Catholic worship was banned in Amsterdam. However, some Catholics continued to worship in hidden churches, of which "Our Lord in The Attic" is the only surviving example. This house also gives a good impression of how rich merchants lived during Holland's Golden Age.

This double-sized canal house dates from 1672, the first resident was Ferdinand Bol, one of rembrandts most famous pupils. In the 19th century, the Van Loon family came to live there, the family's history is closely interwined with that of Amsterdam. Throughout time, the interior and exterior have remained practically intact. They also organize modern and historic exhibitions.

Foam Amsterdam exhibits all genres of photography: fine art, documentary, applied, historical and contemporary; a museum with international allure. Along with large exhibitions of established (world) famous photographers, Foam also exhibits emerging young talent in smaller short-term shows.

Tropenmuseum is a fascinating anthropological museum, housed in a beautiful and historic building. You get to know widely different cultures
